Always a goal of mine, to live simply and more harmoniously with myself and my surroundings.
I spent a good chunk of this fine, lazy, Sunday morning drinking coffee and wandering through a blog named Zen Habits. I’m a sucker for anything named zen, then add something to do with productivity or simplifying or organizing, and I’m there. (I love the planner section of the office supply store, heck I just love the WHOLE office supply store. I go there sometimes just wander around and restore calm and order to my chaotic mind.)
I found it through a link on The Compact Yahoo Group* about The Cheapskate Guide: 50 Tips for Frugal Living and then spent quite a bit of time wandering through the site. Of course, AFTER I wandered around aimlessly, one of my favorite things to do, I found this, The Beginner’s Guide to Zen Habits – A Guided Tour. LOL, oh well.
If you scroll down to the bottom of any page, you’ll see the most popular posts by category. That’s how I bounced around. T’was fun!
I learned about MITs, Most Important Tasks, that you should have 2 or 3 for each day, do them early in the day and the rest of the day is gravy. Well, my MITs for today are/were:
- take a shower
- clean the two fish tanks
- take stuff to my new Reiki office (oh, I didn’t tell you about that yet? LOL, I’ll post something soon)
- take the donate stuff in my trunk to the thrift store (since it is near the new office)
But here I am, NOON, still in my PJs, unshowered, unkempt, and losing daylight. At least I’m blogging, I tell myself. Yeah, yeah, that’s the ticket. Maybe I should go back and add write a blog post.
- write a blog post
There, I feel better. LOL
My biggest problem in getting things done is that I feel overwhelmed, with the things in my to do list, the piles of clutter on my desk and around my house (though they are getting much smaller), and the lack of income coming in so I find it hard to start. This post, My Fav Procrastination Hack – 30 – 10, may be simple enough to help me out! I downloaded the timer. I’ll let you know how it works out. I’ve lots of writing projects to work on with which it will be a perfect help, if I actually DO IT!!!!!!!!! Homemade LATTE as a reward. Yummy. If I get some of these projects done, more zen living for me. Yahooey!
write a blog post
Now, off to the showers.
*Follow this link to The Compact blog. There’s information there about the Compact and a link to the yahoo group. Be warned, they are a chatty group, often going off topic, but very caring and informative and willing to help.
